Safety | Rieth-Riley
Rieth-Riley was awarded the Indiana Construction Association, a chapter of the AGC of America, Gold Summit Award for Leadership in Construction Employee Safety. The deciding committee looks at all aspects of safety within a company but weighs heavily on questionnaires given to supervisors in the field. Leadership in safety encompasses all employees from office personnel, field employees, to upper management. Rieth-Riley received this award because of the efforts of everyone.
"The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example". - John Wooden
Everyone Owns Safety
At Rieth-Riley we think like owners, because we are. And for us, that means we are the owners of our safety as well as the safety of others. It's a proactive approach that revolves around becoming more aware of our surroundings, speaking up when we see at-risk behaviors, fixing hazards as we see them, and reporting those finds and fixes.
Safety is a top priority at Rieth-Riley. We are committed to making absolutely sure that the safety of every employee is paramount. Our dedication to safety has resulted in a safety record well above the industry average.
In order to maintain our outstanding safety record, we require that all of our supervisors receive formal safety training, including OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour courses in construction safety, OSHA trenching, Excavation and Soil Mechanics, and every supervisor receives mandatory First Aid/CPR training on a regular basis. Employees working at our mining operations receive training in accordance with MSHA safety regulations and attend 8-hour refresher training annually.
All employees are required to attend weekly Toolbox Talks that cover topics specific to the construction industry and ongoing work operations within the company. Our Stretch and Flex program is second to none and is completed on a daily basis amongst all of our craft employees.
When incidents do arise on a project, our Risk Management and Safety Team provide a thorough examination. The information is analyzed to determine negative trends that are immediately addressed.
Rieth-Riley is regularly recognized by the AGC of America's Safety Award program for having injury incident and lost time incident rates 25% below the national industry rates. Rieth-Riley is also a partner with IOSHA in their Safety Management Program.
Congratulations Rieth-Riley for being awarded the Gold and Platinum Safety Award. It was a team effort and everyone should be proud. "We are all in this together"!
